Formerly located at Jalan Satok and known as the “Sunday Market”, it has relocated across the river to Medan Niaga and is now operating daily. This is a traditional market in the heart of the city, and on the weekends villagers from the outlying rural areas come to sell their wares – fruits, vegetables, condiments, plants and fruit trees, clothes, tribal handcrafts and souvenirs, and even pets. There is also an interesting wet market section that sells seafood, poultry, and beef. Medan Niaga is a lively, entertaining market at the weekends, and this is the best time to visit.
