Kuching City Tour – 3 hours
If you’re looking for a snapshot of this delightful city, our Kuching City Tour, designed to show you a selection of the most important and interesting places in the city, will take around 3 hours. Highlights include the colonial Kuching precinct; the waterfront heritage Chinese godown shop houses and temples that give a sense of the White Rajah era; the Malay kampung settlement around the Old State Mosque beside the original Brooke dockyard; and bustling Little India, established when the Indian coolies arrived in the early C19th to work on the docks.
You will learn about the history of the White Rajah era and can view the Brooke legacy in the Astana (palace), Fort Margherita (built as a defence against pirates), the Square Tower (once a gaol and later a dance hall), the Old Court House complex, and the Brooke Memorial.
The tour begins with a pick-up at your hotel, and will do a circuit around the city. There are stops at the waterfront near the Square Tower, at the Darul Hana Bridge, and at your choice of either the Tua Pek Kong temple OR the Old State Mosque and the Indian Muslim Mosque.
