Bako National Park

Bako is Sarawak’s oldest National Park, located on a Peninsula and only accessible by boat. It is an extremely unique environment due the seven complete eco-systems made up of almost every type of vegetation found in Borneo. There are 16 hiking trails available, ranging from one or two hours return from the Park HQ to full day or overnight hikes.
The wildlife at Bako is truly exceptional- you are able to see the rare proboscis monkey found only in Borneo, otters, the Bornean bearded pig, lizards including the water monitor, a variety of harmless snakes, and more than 150 species of birds. If you stay overnight, you may witness a flying lemur, pangolin, kancil mouse deer, bats, tarsier, slow loris, or palm civet. Guided night tours are available with a Park Ranger.
