Breakfast at the hotel. Early pick up at 8am for a 30 minute ride to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, approximately 24 km from Kuching to experience a rare opportunity to enjoy close encounters with semi-wild orang utans. These animals have been rescued from captivity and rehabilitated to survive and live off the surrounding forest reserve. They are now roaming freely in the rainforest and often return to the centre at feeding time (8.30am to 9.30am), when they hear the warden calling them.
Then take a scenic 30 minute drive passing through lush green countryside dotted with paddy fields, pepper gardens and rubber plantations and flanked by jungle-clad mountains before arriving at the Bidayuh Longhouse, Anah Rais, which was built about 200 years ago. It is the nearest longhouse easily accessible by road, still maintaining its unique architecture and charm. However it is relatively modern with basic amenities. The Bidayuh or Land Dayaks are very warm and gentle people well known for their hospitality and are reputed to be the best makers of tuak or rice wine. Local ethnic lunch at the longhouse.
Afternoon, proceed to the only crocodile farm in Sarawak which is about a 30 minute drive from the city. Jong Crocodile Farm has more than 10,000 crocodiles. This is a great opportunity to learn about the types of crocodiles found in Sarawak and also their habitats. The farm also has a mini zoo featuring some local animals and you will get to check out its star attraction – the skull of Sarawak’s most notorious killer crocodile, Bujang Senang (Easy Bachelor). The feeding time of the crocodiles is at 3pm followed by the feeding of Arapaima fish at 3.30pm. Transfer back to hotel after the tour.
Day 4 – Bako National Park (Breakfast, Lunch)
